Psychosomatic urology

In psychosomatic urology, the interactions between body and soul in the functioning of the pelvic organs and the pelvic floor are investigated. The bladder, rectum, pelvic floor and sex organs are highly vulnerable to psychosomatic events. In addition to physical causes, malfunctions of these organs are often connected with incidents in the mind, certain types of reactions to everyday events and social living conditions. However, these connections are often overlooked or not given enough attention.

The discipline of psychosomatic urology looks at certain symptoms from the point of view of the body  and soul as a whole. On the one hand, physical problems and symptoms of the pelvic organs and pelvic floor can cause mental problems, while on the other hand certain  disorders in the mind can trigger physically perceptible problems or malfunctions of the pelvic organs and pelvic floor.

In psychosomatic urology, pelvic symptoms are investigated both objectively and psychodynamically at the same time. Instrument-based tests are used sparingly and only when judged necessary.
